ACC&IM (Advanced Critical Care & Internal Medicine) provides state-of-the-art emergency animal care, long-term medical management and critical care to pet patients who live anywhere in Southern California.

Each week, we handle hundreds of cases involving dogs, cats, reptiles, rodents, birds, and even fish and zoo/protected park animals. For Southern California’s emergency pet needs, we provide the following:

Emergency supportive animal care and pet therapeutic procedures:

  • Cardiopulmonary and cerebral resuscitation (CPR)
  • Intravenous and arterial catheterization
  • Intravenous fluid therapy
  • Heat support
  • Isolation care for pets with infectious disease
  • Intermittent and indwelling urethral catheterization (urinary catheter)
  • Tracheal and urethral indwelling stent placement
  • Oxygen therapy, respiratory therapy and mechanical ventilation
  • Enteral and perenteral nutrition support and feeding tube placement
  • Emergency surgical procedures
  • Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (dialysis in the ICU)
  • Blood transfusions including blood typing and cross matches
   

Animal imaging:

  • Digital radiography

  • Blood gas

    • Bone marrow sampling by aspiration and core biopsy
    • Percutaneous (ultrasound-guided) fine needle aspiration and needle biopsy

Veterinary fiber optic scoping:

  • Diagnostic fiber optic scope procedures for non-surgical evaluation of and biopsy collection of: Endoscopy and colonoscopy (intestinal tract)
  • Rhinoscopy (the nose)
  • Bronchoscopy (the upper and lower airways)
  • Cystoscopy (the urinary bladder)
  • Vaginoscopy (female lower reproductive tract),
  • Laparoscopy (minimally-invasive evaluation of the abdominal cavity)
  • Thoracoscopy (minimally-invasive evaluation of the thoracic/chest cavity)
   

24-hour veterinary monitoring:

  • Invasive cardiac output monitoring
  • Invasive and noninvasive blood pressure monitoring
  • Telemetric continuous ECG
  • Capnometry, oximetry, Doppler and sphygnomanometry, anesthesia gas monitors with phleythsmography
